This grant will supplement and support student comprehension of texts and will help develop the oral language of students.

Yvonne Schmitz - Sherrelwood Elementary

Arts for Achievement $ 500.00

This grant will supplement the Sherrelwood Art program serving the entire school. A school-wide art program is not totally funded at this time. Our grant is part of a coalition of funds.

Christy Greer - Clear Lake MS

Arts Day $ 585.00

Our grant is part of a matching funds grant to support an all day arts program serving 600 kids. The program will bring in over 35 artisans, artists and presenters.

Lyla Rauchenecker - Tennyson Knolls Elementary

DIBELS-How to use info $ 500.00

This grant will allow instructors to purchase books that can be used for staff development needs for increased achievement through reading fluency.

Becky Killeen - Ranum High School

Digital Darkroom $ 500.00

This grant will allow the school to purchase two more cameras for this popular class.

Kim Carver - Tennyson Knolls Elementary

Books for Kids $ 79.95

Money from this inexpensive but cost effective grant will allow Kim to subscribe to the A-Z program where she will be able to download a widevariety of books to enhance her reading instruction.

Julie Bucher - Scott Carpenter M.S.

Ice Cream Parlor $ 230.00

Students in Julie’s Learning Center will use this grant to purchase materials to set up their little business using the proper math, reading and writing skills.

Jim Cullom - Skyline Vista Elementary

Hi-Hop Math/Literacy $ 500.00

Skyline and Jim will utilize this grant to create hands on “DJ Scratchings.” Using this popular music of today’s youth, Jim will use the turntables purchased to teach math, literacy and music skills and standards.

Karin Turner - Mesa Elementary

Reading a-z.com $ 599.50

This grant will allow Mesa and Karin the opportunity to purchase books that will match students to their reading level thus improving achievement for all.

Link Crew - Westminster High School

Link-continuing Ed. $ 750.00

The “Link” program has been a very successful program linking upper class kids to their “deer in the headlights” frosh. The grant helps defray some of the cost to purchase the significant number of supplies and materials needed to run the program.

Nancy Dwire - Metz Elementary

Reading Rods Home Reading $ 284.55

This grant allows Nancy to purchase Reading Rod Learning Centers. These little portable centers can be checked out and sent home so parents can help reinforce reading skills taught at school.

Karen Alexander - Mesa Elementary

Promoting Positive Literacy $ 499.95

Karen will use this grant to help offset some of the cost to purchase supplementary materials to aid kids master their skills in phonics, spellings, poetry, penmanship and phonemic awareness.

Frances Davison - Scott Carpenter MS

Increasing Reading, Math Writing Skills through job exploration $ 50.00

Frances will purchase inexpensive materials to supplement the school’s “Bridges” program that helps SPED kids explore their job potential while teaching basic skills.

Rheanna Haislet - Scott Carpenter MS

Rebuilding SCMS instrumental music program $ 400.00

Music is a viable elective in the district and at Scott. This grant will allow Rheanna the opportunity to buy needed accessories to help rebuild that program. Without this money the kids would have to purchase these accessories.

Westminster H.S.

AVID Room Computer Lab $1000.00

One of the successful aspects of the AVID program is the lunchtime tutoring program. This grant will allow them to purchase a couple more computers to be used in their community room during lunch. Right now they have only one for the AVID population.

Debby Schleiger- Flynn Elementary

Individual literacy enhancement books with tapes $ 280.00

The grant money will be used to purchase individual literacy enhancement books with tapes that will aid preschoolers master their early reading skills.
